Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Liverpool Chinese Arch Sat 20th Feb 2010, noon to 1 pm Liverpool Chinese Ceremony Arch, Nelson Street To mark the 10th anniversary of the Chinese Ceremony Arch and Liverpool's twinning with Shanghai, the Liverpool Chinese Community has organised a traditional Chinese ceremony with a lion dance and fire cracker display. This event will also incorporate a launch of a new book titled: Shanghai & Liverpool: Celebrating Ten Years of Twinning. Dragon, Unicorn & Lion Dance Street Parade Sunday 21st Feb 2010, Time: 11:30am- 3:00pm The celebrations take off when the dragon, lions and unicorn arrive outside the Black- E to greet the community.
Firecracker Display Sunday, 21st Feb 2010, Time: 1:00pm Great George Square Watch the spectacular firecracker display. Of course, there will be music and the ‘Lucky Man’ wearing a traditional Chinese costumes will be handing out red envelopes to children.
Urban Strawberry Lunch (USL) 14th – 20th Feb 2010 St. Luke’s Church The USL will run a series of activities to celebrate Chinese New Year, starting with a week- long film screening from the Valentine’s Day inside St Luke’s Church. All visitors are welcome to take part in decorating the church for the Chinese New Year. Sunday, 21st Feb 2010, noon onwards St. Luke’s Church St. Luke’s Church is open to the public offering activities and entertainment for everyone coming through the door. Come tie a red ribbon and make a new year wish for the Year of the Tiger or join in the drumming workshop, decorations workshop and other family activities!
VIP Dinner and Chinese Variety Show Sunday, 21st Feb 2010 Time: 5:30 to 10:00pm Britainnia Adelphi Hotel, Ranelagh Place, Liverpool L3 5UL The Chinese New Year Variety Show will showcase local and international performers as the finale to this year’s event. The emphasis will be on Chinese music and dance, Jazz, Soul, Pop, Martial Arts and will feature local, traditional and contemporary artists.
